Curb chain
The primary function of a curb chain is to control and limit the lever action of a curb bit to protect the mouth. It also distributes the pressure between the mouth poll and chin. The curb chain should be tightened to stop the lever action when the shank is 45 degrees from the mouth. Fager has curb chains with or without leather and curb chain guards to cover the chain.
