A Registered Design
Fager Linus is suitable for horses that you would describe as some of the following:
Linus is a sweet-tasting, single-jointed Snaffle with bar relief. The design is simple, unique and designed with the horse’s ultimate comfort in mind. Combined with the sweet taste material, the horse will seek more contact with the hand and be less overreactive when you take the reins, keeping a more consistent contact.
The joints are specifically designed to give a much more gentle pressure on the tongue, making Linus an extremely comfortable bit. The mouthpiece naturally conforms to the shape of the tongue whilst relieving the bars from constant pressure.
Material
Sweet iron is a covering on top of a bit made of stainless steel. The purpose is to disguise the metal taste from stainless steel and create a pleasant, sweet taste, encouraging the horse to seek more contact and hold on to the bit. Following use, sweet iron will start to oxidize and turn brownish grey, this is to be expected.
Sweet iron is a good choice for horses who need to seek more contact with the bit.
Loose rings
Loose Rings are designed to move independently to the mouthpiece. This allows the horse more freedom to use his tongue, allowing them to place the pressure from the mouthpiece either higher or lower, whichever they prefer. Loose Rings are a good choice for a horse that can be slightly stiff or hard in the mouth.
More about the mouthpiece
Loose Rings are designed to move independently to the mouthpiece. This allows the horse more freedom to use his tongue, enabling them to place the pressure from the mouthpiece either higher or lower, whichever they prefer.
Loose Rings are a good choice for a horse that can lean on the bit and can feel stiff to get a softer, more flexible contact.
More about the loose rings
A loose ring bit should sit comfortably with about 2–5 mm space on each side of the horse’s mouth. If the bit is too narrow it may pinch the lips, while a bit that is too wide can move too much and reduce stability.
If your horse has sensitive mouth corners, we recommend adding bit guards to protect the skin.
