Fager Nellie is the ideal choice if you would describe your horse as the following;
Fager Nellie is a stable barrelled bit with bar relief.
This bit is a good choice for horses that can get too stiff on a traditional straight bit, but are too worried/unstable in a jointed bit. It's also a good choice for horses who need a stable bit to seek a stable contact with.
The barrelled tube mouthpiece creates a fast, natural lock in any direction, making Nellie an ideal solution for horses who need encouragement to actively seek more contact and get a stable feeling without getting stiff like on a straight bit.
The Nellie design is well suited to horses who have wear on the teeth and need a bit that protects the teeth. It's also very gentle to the bars.
More about the mouthpiece
Loose Rings are designed to move independently to the mouthpiece. This allows the horse more freedom to use his tongue, enabling them to place the pressure from the mouthpiece either higher or lower, whichever they prefer.
Loose Rings are a good choice for a horse that can lean on the bit and can feel stiff to get a softer, more flexible contact.
More about the loose rings
A loose ring bit should sit comfortably with about 2–5 mm space on each side of the horse’s mouth. If the bit is too narrow it may pinch the lips, while a bit that is too wide can move too much and reduce stability.
If your horse has sensitive mouth corners, we recommend adding bit guards to protect the skin.
