Fager Matilda is suitable for horses that you would describe as some of the following:
Matilda is a lightweight double-jointed bit with a special lockup function. The mouthpiece of Matilda has a tongue relief but locks upwards, which can be good for horses with a low palate and sensitive bars who still has a big tongue and prefers a tongue relief.
The bit doesn't lock forward like a normal lockup bit, which means that you won't get the stiff feeling of a straight bit.
The joints are rotated away from the tongue, which gives a more gentle, smooth pressure on the tongue. This can be good for horses that can overreact when you take the reins and need to keep the consistent contact through every movement. The lightweight material lets you keep a light feeling in the hand.
A bit with tongue relief suits horses with large, sensitive tongues who can open their mouths, pull the reins, and play with their tongues.
Material
Titanium is a tasteless metal that naturally adapts to the mouth's temperature, encouraging the horse to accept the bit and be more comfortable.
We usually recommend a Titanium bit for sensitive-mouthed horses who can react to other metals, e.g. red marks or sores developing, despite a soft contact from the hands.
Titanium gives a super light feeling in the hand and quicker response compared to a heavier bit, particularly when combined with the correct mouthpiece for the individual horse.
Fixed rings
Fixed rings are attached to the mouthpiece, and the reins’ contact will be more still towards the mouth. Fixed rings will encourage a horse to keep the contact towards the bit and create a stable feeling for both the horse and rider.

More about the fixed rings
A fixed ring bit should sit close to the horse’s mouth, without causing pressure on the teeth or lips.
The mouthpiece should not be visible between the rings and mouth corner.
If the bit is too long, it can cause discomfort and injuries.
