Fager Jenny is suitable if you would describe your horse as the following;
Jenny's double-jointed mouthpiece creates space for the tongue, relieving constant tongue pressure.
The Copper Roller is cleverly designed to be positioned lower than the joints to increase the point-pressure on the tongue. This creates pressure when your horse pulls or feels heavy in your hand without applying consistent pressure.
The Copper Roller also gives horses something to play with, perfect for horses who can feel numb to the contact.
The combination of Sweet Iron and Copper creates a taste in the mouth which is readily accepted even by the most sensitive or picky horses. It effectively works to increase acceptance and a steady contact.
Fager mouthpiece designs are always horizontally straight – none have a big bend forward. We design them in this way to maintain the correct balance point (BP) in the mouth. When a bit creates a bigger bend forwards, the BP also moves forward, which reduces the effectiveness of the aids.
N.B. The balance point remains even if it has a slight bend over the tongue = Upwards.
Note; Jenny has the same mouthpiece as Julia. Julia is the snaffle version = normal snaffle rings. Jenny is the bradoon version = smaller rings.
More about the mouthpiece
Loose Rings are designed to move independently to the mouthpiece. This allows the horse more freedom to use his tongue, enabling them to place the pressure from the mouthpiece either higher or lower, whichever they prefer.
Loose Rings are a good choice for a horse that can lean on the bit and can feel stiff to get a softer, more flexible contact.
More about the loose rings
A loose ring bit should sit comfortably with about 2–5 mm space on each side of the horse’s mouth. If the bit is too narrow it may pinch the lips, while a bit that is too wide can move too much and reduce stability.
We recommend choosing the Bradoon in the horse’s usual snaffle size and the Weymouth one size bigger.
The jointed Bradoon should not be too large, as it may slide sideways and cause rubbing, pressure or injury. The Weymouth sits outside the Bradoon and needs extra space so the bits do not interfere.
