How should I measure my bit?
Different brands measure their bits differently. This is how we measure the Fager bits.
Measurement A measures the length of the bits. The length is always measured on the inside of the sidepieces, meaning we only measure the part inside the mouth.
Measurement B measures the inner diameter of the ring. The inner diameter is always measured on the inside of the rings, as the reins and cheekpiece will be attached to the inside of the ring.
Measurement C measures the thickness of the mouthpiece. The thickness is always measured on the inside of the rings, as this is where the judges at competitions will measure the bits. Some of our bits have a smooth transition of thickness, being thinner in the mouth but thicker in the mouth corners.
Measurement D measures the additional part of the bits that are relevant to know. For example, the lower shank length on a bit with leverage, or the upper shank length on a baucher bit.
