IMPORTANT: Fager Fanny offers two fittings, each offering a very different result.

Fitted one way it creates a front-lock and then turned around and fitted the other way, there is no locking of the joint.

WITH front lock is recommended if you would describe your horse as the following:

  • Can be inconsistent in the connection.
  • Do not actively seek contact towards the bit.
  • Drops the bit/falls behind the hand.

WITHOUT front lock is recommended if you would describe your horse as the following:

  • Can be inconsistent in the connection.
  • Feels stiff under the saddle.
  • Bites down on the bit, attempting to pull it back.
  • Attempts to place the tongue over the bit.

Anatomically designed for comfort, Fanny is a lightweight single-jointed bit featuring our unique Fager Smart System – FSS™. This innovative system is designed to lock the joint in any direction, in order to avoid any interference with the palate thus avoiding the ‘nutcracker’ effect.

It creates the feel of a classic straight bit, yet with added flexibility.  The clever design creates stability whilst ensuring free movement and comfort in the horse’s mouth through a well-balanced, horse-friendly bit which has proven to be greatly appreciated by sensitive horses.

Fanny’s design is curved to create space and allow freedom for the tongue. A horse with a sensitive tongue will appreciate this innovative design and will be more accepting of the contact, creating a refreshed willingness to work.
