Fager Harriet is a good choice if you would describe your horse as the following;
A straight mullen-mouth bit designed for horses with sensitive bars and skin.
Harriet's design to provide the best shape for a horse with sensitive bars, as it relieves the bars from pressure. This straight shape, in combination with Titanium, will give the rider that extra wow-factor that everyone desires!
The Harriet design is well suited to horses who have wear on the teeth and need a bit that protects the teeth. It's also very gentle to the skin and allergy-friendly.
Material
Titanium is a tasteless metal that naturally adapts to the mouth's temperature, encouraging the horse to accept the bit and be more comfortable.
We usually recommend a Titanium bit for sensitive-mouthed horses who can react to other metals, e.g. red marks or sores developing, despite a soft contact from the hands.
Titanium gives a super light feeling in the hand and quicker response compared to a heavier bit, particularly when combined with the correct mouthpiece for the individual horse.
Loose rings
Loose Rings are designed to move independently to the mouthpiece. This allows the horse more freedom to use his tongue, allowing them to place the pressure from the mouthpiece either higher or lower, whichever they prefer. Loose Rings are a good choice for a horse that can be slightly stiff or hard in the mouth.
More about the mouthpiece
Loose Rings are designed to move independently to the mouthpiece. This allows the horse more freedom to use his tongue, enabling them to place the pressure from the mouthpiece either higher or lower, whichever they prefer.
Loose Rings are a good choice for a horse that can lean on the bit and can feel stiff to get a softer, more flexible contact.
More about the loose rings
A loose ring bit should sit comfortably with about 2–5 mm space on each side of the horse’s mouth. If the bit is too narrow it may pinch the lips, while a bit that is too wide can move too much and reduce stability.
If your horse has sensitive mouth corners, we recommend adding bit guards to protect the skin.
