Fager Mary is suitable for horses that you would describe as some of the following:
Fager Mary has everything you could want from a bit! It is incredibly comfortable, featuring 100% super-smooth surfaces, including the joints. Combined with the titanium material, this gives you a consistent feeling in the hand without the horse overreacting when you take the reins, but still offers a light feeling.
Fager's smooth joints are designed to never press against the sides of the palate or create uneven pressure over the bars. It makes the pressure over the tongue more gentle.
The small tongue relief, in combination with the smooth joints, makes this bit a good option for horses with a sensitive tongue who can open their mouth, pull the reins, and move the tongue around.
Material
Titanium is a tasteless metal that naturally adapts to the mouth's temperature, encouraging the horse to accept the bit and be more comfortable.
We usually recommend a Titanium bit for sensitive-mouthed horses who can react to other metals, e.g. red marks or sores developing, despite a soft contact from the hands.
Titanium gives a super light feeling in the hand and quicker response compared to a heavier bit, particularly when combined with the correct mouthpiece for the individual horse.
Fixed rings, bradoon
Fixed rings are attached to the mouthpiece, and the reins’ contact will be more still towards the mouth. Fixed rings will encourage a horse to keep the contact towards the bit and create a stable feeling for both the horse and rider. The bradoon rings are smaller than our traditional snaffle rings to fit perfectly with a weymouth on a double bridle but can be used as a snaffle alone.
More about the mouthpiece
Fixed rings are attached to the mouthpiece, and the reins’ contact will be more still towards the mouth.
Fixed rings will encourage a horse to keep the contact towards the bit and create a stable feeling for both the horse and rider.
More about the fixed rings
A fixed ring bit should sit close to the horse’s mouth, without causing pressure on the teeth or lips.
We recommend choosing the Bradoon in the horse’s usual snaffle size and the Weymouth one size bigger.
The jointed Bradoon should not be too large, as it may slide sideways and cause rubbing, pressure or injury. The Weymouth sits outside the Bradoon and needs extra space so the bits do not interfere.
